Our new app: Tiyimbe

Tiyimbe App: A Songbook from Our Heart to Yours

If you’ve ever stood in a village church in Malawi, with voices rising around you in Chichewa, you know the power of worship here. The harmonies are simple but profound. The words – though sometimes hard to catch if you’re not fluent – carry a depth that transcends language. That’s what inspired us to create the Tiyimbe app.

“Tiyimbe” means “Let’s Sing” in Chichewa, and that’s exactly the heartbeat behind this project. It’s a worship songbook for mobile phones, designed to bring people together – whether they speak Chichewa, English, or both – around the shared joy of praising God.

Why We Built It

After years of serving in Malawi, we saw how often locals and visitors alike wanted to join in singing but struggled because they either didn’t know the words or couldn’t understand them.

We dreamed of something simple. A tool. A gift. And so, with a lot of prayer, translating, and tech work, the Tiyimbe app was born.

What Makes Tiyimbe Special?

• Chichewa + English Side by Side
Every song in Tiyimbe includes the original Chichewa lyrics, along with clear English translations – so you don’t just sing along, you understand what you’re singing.
• Works Offline
Internet is a luxury in many places we go. Tiyimbe doesn’t need a connection – once it’s on your phone, it’s with you always.
• Search & Favorites
You can search by number, title, or even part of a lyric. And if a song speaks to your heart, just tap the heart to save it as a favorite.
• Simple, Clean Design
We built it to be lightweight and easy to use – whether you’re in a city church or under a mango tree.
• Your Privacy Matters
No ads, no signups, no tracking. Just worship.

More Than Technology – It’s Ministry

Tiyimbe isn’t just an app – it’s part of our ministry. It accompanies our printed songbook, which we’re distributing across churches in Malawi. While the physical book is a cherished resource, the app makes the songs more accessible. Together, the printed and digital versions reinforce one another, helping to preserve worship traditions while also making them easier to share, teach, and understand. Whether you’re holding a hymnal or a phone, the message remains the same: Let’s sing to the Lord.

That’s why we do this. Because worship shouldn’t have barriers.
